CONSTITUTION FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF

BioInTx CLUB AT UTEP

 

 

 

 

ARTICLE I – NAME

The name of the organization shall be BioInTx Club

 

ARTICLE II – PURPOSE

a) To serve as forum for discussion and dissemination of information about

bioinformatics to general public, UTEP students, alumni, faculty and staff.

b) To promote the growth and visibility of Bioinformatics Masters program at UTEP

c) To foster the continued interest in bioinformatics and computational biology

d) To provide experiences designed to develop skills in the field of

bioinformatics

e) To provide members with an opportunity to learn and excel in the field of

bioinformatics

f) To serve the university community in the following ways:

    i) increase awareness of opportunities in bioinformatics

    ii) promote fellowship among people interested in bioinformatics

 

ARTICLE III – ORGANIZATION:

Section 1. Membership – The BioInTx organization shall be composed of students, staff

and/or faculty members who are interested in our purpose.

Section 2. Officers – Officers are elected as described below. The length of the terms is

one (academic) year.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible to hold any office a person must:

A. be a student currently enrolled at UTEP

B. have a minimum GPA of 3.0

C. not be on any disciplinary or scholastic probation

D. have been an active member of the organization at least one semester after first

year of club existence

E. Attendance record of 80% at meetings

F. Enroll in at least one bioinformatics related course per semester
